I have a raw food recipe that is sooooo good. I think they do really taste like crumb donuts.
Naughty Balls (a variation of the oringinal recipe "Tastes Like Hostess Crumb Donuts by Lucy Yeh")
1 cup raw almonds 1 cup very soft, pitted dates 1/2 cup shredded coconut more shredded coconut for rolling splash olive oil (I use Myer Lemon infused oil instead, olive tends to be a little heavy) vanilla 1 tsp nutmeg 1 tsp cinnamon sea salt
Put almonds in food processor and process to very fine pieces. Add dates, a little at a time. Add splash of olive oil/other oil, a little salt and a little vanilla. The mixture will look like very coarse meal at first, and then all of a sudden it will come together in one big ball.
Take the big ball out of the food processor and using your hands, mix in the the nutmeg/cin and the shredded coconut until it is all mixed in. Taste and add more coconut or nutmeg/cin if desired.
Roll the mixture into small balls (size of a large cherry), and roll in shredded coconut to cover. Place on a plate in a single layer and chill in the fridge until firm. After they are firm, you can put them in a container; they will keep for a very long time in the fridge
....Everyone in the household loves these things...I LOVE them with a little cup of milk or coffee. I eat them for brekkie, snack and dessert.
PS if you dont have a food processor use a blender... avoid hand chopping everything unless you want your arms to fall off.
I haven't posted much lately. Ever since last September, when I quit my job of six years, it has been rather hard to shake off the general malaise of being overworked. I can’t believe how long it has taken me to un-funk my brains. I have been making a lot of art (mostly paintings), working freelance as a visual merchandising specialist and sitting on something rather exciting... I guess I better spill...
In about 30 days we are moving out to the Western Mojave High Desert to open an interior design accessory production studio. We found a financial backer to start up the studio who has similar values as ours. His name is Dustin, and he and his mistress Deja are childfree like us, into art, and open-minded. Deja is deaf so we have started learning sign language, which is very interesting...I like making things with my hands, even words!
Anyway...The area we will be living is on the way to Las Vegas, off the 15 freeway (Hesperia/Victorville/Apple Valley area). We will be doing wrought iron work, ceramics, cast stone and eventually casting bronze. The idea was to use my experience with the interior design industry and market our accessories directly to interior designers. I have a few showrooms in the LA area that are ready to carry our products already! There is a lack of skilled ironworkers in the Los Angeles area that are willing to do smaller piece work that is well crafted, functional as well as artistic, properly finished…and actually deliver on time. We will be going into LA at least once a month, if not more to visit vendors, drop off product and pick up new orders.
I’m very excited to start organizing the studio so we can make our first project. I was thinking it would be really fun to make rustic modern ceramic pieces in the style of the native Southwestern Indians and do a traditional pit firing. I have been researching how to dig the perfect pit, what materials to use for fuel and the secrets to getting beautiful smoked colors through the use of natural minerals. Here are some examples of what you can get out of a rusic pit firing....
It’s all rather exciting and scary, all of these big leaps and ideas. It looks like we will be giving our 30-day tenant notice tomorrow, and driving out to Hesperia to put down a hold on the apartment we have picked out....so things are really going forward quickly.
I guess what this all boils down to is, Fray and I are returning to a place that we held so dear 10 years ago....making art together again. LA was an education in the hard knocks and excesses of city life, now we are ready for an art baptism in the desert. We have been talking about moving out of LA for several years, but this....this fell into our lap last month.
So, we are going to see where this takes us. Aim for success, not perfection. Never give up your right to be wrong, because then you will lose the ability to learn new things and move forward with your life. ---Dr. David M. Burns

I have been wanting to challenge my impromptu graphic marketing skills, in hopes they will come useful in the near future. Starbucks Daily Offerings Board.
Quit my job of 6 years. One can be force-fed so much shit like a goose being fattened for foie gras. Thats all I am saying of things past.
I have started my own display/merch/design business. Pay me and I'll make your showroom look like a million fucking bucks.
Even better yet, my paintings are now available for sale through one of my display clients (the paintings in the photos above are recent work of mine)
If I'm not out making the wholesale universe neat, tidy and beautiful... I make art.... And holy shit is the art flying out me fingers and selling ASAP...
